About Mammoth Mountain

Winter Activites:

Your search for the endless winter is over. With over 400" of annual snowfall, thousands of acres of epic terrain and an altitude that keeps things white into summer, Mammoth turns winter into a 6+ month season. Not bad considering most resorts are golf courses by April. And with our state-of-the-art lifts and gondolas and a variety of runs for all skill levels (including seven terrain parks) Mammoth Mountain embodies all that you love about winter.

Some people come to Mammoth for our 150 trails. Others for our 3,100 feet of vertical. A few show-up with their sights set on exploring our 3,500 acres of terrain, while the size-matters crowd show up because we're the tallest ski resort in California with a peak elevation of 11,053 feet. Lovers of snow hang their helmets here  because of our more than 400" of annual snowfall. Folks with family-sized bottles of sunscreen can't get enough of our more than 300 days of sunshine. With warmth like that, winter never gets old and sticks around for a long time -- our season typically runs from November until June. At a minimum. But the one thing everyone comes for is to play big. And there's no better venue on earth than Mammoth Mountain.

Playing big by the numbers

  • Top elevation: 11,053 feet
  • 28 lifts (includes 9 high speed quads, 2 high speed six-packs and 3 high speed gondolas)
  • Winter season: approx. Nov. to June

Summer Activities:

One of California's best kept secrets is summer at Mammoth. Offering just as many thrills as winter, visitors enjoy a jaw-dropping mountain setting and consistently warm, sunny weather. Adrenalin junkies can hurl themselves down Mammoth's variety of mountain bike trails while the more serene outdoorsman heads to local rivers and lakes for world-class fishing. There's also an 18-hole golf course, endless hiking , horseback riding, and a ton of other great activities to help you get the most out of your summer. Plus, Yosemite National Park is only about 20 miles north of Mammoth. It's an easy trek to make and its proximity means that you have a great view whether you're in the park or here at Mammoth.

Although we never like to see the snow melt at Mammoth, it does make way for some of the world's best mountain biking. Whether you're looking for a scenic, two-wheeled stroll, want to break the land speed record while catching some air along the way, or something in between the two, the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park has a trail or two just for you.
